Many years ago, I worked at Thomson, and then Thomson Reuters, a big company with desks, ductwork, and an office phone system. It was my first job out of college. One day, I got a phone call from a woman's voice.
Me: "Hello? Sam here."
Them: "Hi, I'm looking for a John Connor?"
Me: "Uh, I don't know any John Connor here, is this his number? Let me look in the company directory for you."
Them: "..."
Me: "Okay, I don't see any John Connor at this company. Maybe there's a mixup."
/me goes to some coworkers and asks them if they know anything about a John Connor. They have no idea.
Me: "Ah, sorry, I can't help you, there's no John Connor here."
<hangs up>
Then I remembered who John Connor was.
Anyway, the point of this story is that John Connor is real, and I might have saved the future.
